US President Donald Trump will meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House today.

Netanyahu left Tel Aviv on Sunday for Washington to discuss regional issues, including a ceasefire agreement in Gaza.

During his third visit to the US in six months, Netanyahu is expected to meet with senior US administration officials and members of Congress from both parties.

Earlier, Trump told reporters there was a “good chance” that a deal could be reached this week to free hostages in Gaza and to end the ceasefire with the Palestinian group Hamas.

Asked about his message to Netanyahu, he said: “We’re working on a lot of things with Israel, and one of the things is probably a permanent agreement with Iran.”

Netanyahu will face a wave of protests during his stay in the US.

Pro-Palestinian protesters are set to condemn his visit to the capital and demand an end to US support for Israel’s war in the Gaza Strip.

Despite international calls for a ceasefire, Israel has been waging war on Gaza, killing more than 57,400 Palestinians, mostly women and children, since October 2023.

The International Criminal Court (ICC) issued arrest warrants last November for Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant on suspicion of war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.

Israel also faces a genocide charge before the International Court of Justice over the war in the enclave.
