As expected, the best athlete from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Amel Tuka, won today with a time of 1:49.25 in the 800 meters and was the only one to bring our team the maximum 15 points at the European Team Championship in Athletics Division 3, which was held as part of the 3rd European Sports Games “Krakow Malopolska 2023” in Poland. The games end on July 2, and Bosnia and Herzegovina will compete in a total of eight sports.
BiH, after holding 12 out of a total of 37 disciplines, is in fifth place, while the three first-placed selections will be placed in Division 2 from Division 3. Currently, those positions, after 12 competitions, are held by Austria, the Republic of Ireland and Israel.
Today in the afternoon, at 4:15 p.m., the competition in Division 2 begins, and the competition in our Division 3 continues tomorrow morning, starting at 9:40 a.m., when the long jump competitors will be the first to take to the field. All competitions in Division 3 will end on Thursday, June 22, with the 4×400 m mixed relays, when the three first-placed selections will be announced and will qualify for Division 2.
All athletic competitions end on Sunday, June 25, when the winner and the order of the best competition – Division 1 – will be announced.
The rest of our competitors on the first day, for the most part, achieved results in line with their current form, and most of them also achieved their best results this season.
Thus, Gorana Tešanović was sixth in the shot put with the best result of the season 13.05 meters; Jelena Gajić was eighth in the 400 meters with a season’s result of 57.94; Jenisa Gušinac was sixth in the discus throw with 36.83 meters; Sedin Heco, with the best result of the season, was eighth in the triple jump with a length of 14.29 meters; Abedin Mujezinović was sixth in the 400 meter race with a season’s result of 47.85; Alma Hrnjić, with the best result of the season, was ninth in the race at 5,000 meters with a time of 18:30.94; In the pole vault, Luka Ivčić jumped exactly 4.00 meters and shared the fifth place; Mlađen Samardžić took eighth place in the 3,000 meter steeplechase with the best result of the season 10:00.39; Ajla Bašić was sixth in the hammer throw with a length of 53.14 meters; Neira Bosnić was sixth in the 100-meter race with a time of 12.23, and Edhem Vikalo was seventh in the men’s competition with the season’s best time of 10.84.
