The ammunition factory and drone production laboratory of the Turkish company MKE will be built in Kosovo based on an agreement between Turkey and Kosovo.

The Kosovo government signed an agreement on Monday with the Turkish state defense company, the Machinery and Chemical Industry Corporation (MKE – Makine ve Kimya Endustrisi), to establish an ammunition factory in Kosovo.

“In addition to the production machines, the contract signed today also provides for the training of personnel, temporary maintenance and equipment for testing and calibrating the quality of the system,” Kurti said.

On November 27, Kurti announced that the process of opening the ammunition factory and drone design laboratory had begun, stating that it was a necessary step to guarantee the sustainable development of the army.

Defense Minister Ejup Maqedonci said that the project was coordinated with international partners, including the United States, and that the Turkish Defense Ministry had assisted with a feasibility study.

“Today we signed a key agreement for the defense of our country. Our new partnership with the Turkish company MKE, the leading defense factory in Turkey, will enable Kosovo to operationalize our military ammunition factory, which will be produced according to NATO standards,” Kurti said.
