Turks Want to Invest in Salt Mine Tuzla

Tuzla_panorama_1The Prime Minister of Tuzla Canton Sead Čaušević, Minister of Industry, Energy and Mining Željko Knežiček and Advisor to the Prime Minister Igor Rajner received today the General Director of the factory “Sisecam soda” Lukavac d.o.o. prof. dr. Ahmet Kirman with his colleagues.

A stable supply and the price of brine from the salt mine Tuzla was the focus of discussions.

Representatives of the only factory for soda in this region took this opportunity to express their desire to expand production, for which 100 million euros has been invested until now in the area of the Tuzla canton.

The prerequisites for this are alternative sites for salt water, which would in the long term secure a continuity of the supply of raw material.

Guests from Turkey expressed interest to enter into negotiations for the recapitalization of the salt mine Tuzla, of which 67 percent is state capital.

A delegation of the Tuzla Canton government positively assessed such a solution of ownership, which would, according to Prime Minister Čaušević, solve the problem of  the price of brine.

“We do not have a great use from the salt mine, other than it is a prerequisite for the work of Sisecam”, said Čaušević and confirmed that the topic of the recapitalization of Tetima should be opened.

They spoke of what has been done until now and what are the plans for the demining of the area around the Limestone mine Vijenac.
