BiH Minister of Defense and Deputy Chairman of the BiH Council of Ministers Zukan Helez held a meeting on Thursday with American Ambassador Michael J. Murphy.
The topics of the conversation were bilateral cooperation between the two countries, current events in the MoD and the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina with special emphasis on the implementation of the Defense Review of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Modernization Plan of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Reform Program of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
“It was mutually stated that the cooperation between our two countries is at an extremely good level. The interest of both sides in continuing and expanding cooperation in the field of defense, especially in the field of training and education, was expressed,” it is stated.
Minister Helez and Ambassador Murphy expressed satisfaction with today’s adoption of the BiH Council of Ministers’ decision on the acquisition of new American helicopters for the needs of the BiH Armed Forces. Minister Helez thanked Ambassador Murphy for every kind of help and support of the US Government to Bosnia and Herzegovina, especially in the field of defense, which has been proven through twenty years of cooperation between the Armed Forces of BiH and the Maryland National Guard.
Minister Helez also announced the ceremony marking 20 years of state partnership between BiH and the Federal State of Maryland, in June of this year.
Ambassador Murphy once again emphasized the US Government’s commitment to full support for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of BiH, as well as support on its path to Euro-Atlantic integration.
Ambassador Murphy was accompanied by US military attache in BiH Brigadier Erich Adams and representative of the Political Department of the US Embassy in BiH Michael Ahn, as well as Chief of Cabinet of the Minister of Defense of BiH Salko Beba, announced the Public Relations Office of the Ministry of Defense of BiH.
