U17 World Championship: BiH defeated by Australia

13563283_1218963798154574_414269452_nThe U17 national basketball team of BiH was defeated in the round of 16 of the U17 World Championship in Spain by Australia with a result of 75:72.

Australians, the vice champions of the last two U17 Mundobaskets, opened the match much better and scored nine points more than BiH (20:11) as the end of the first quarter approached, but the players of the coach Josip Pandža managed to reduce the difference to five points (20:15).

In the second quarter, the BiH boys played much better and in the 16th minute of the game they finally got to the lead after free shots by Džanan Musa (25:23), and the result at the half time was 30:27 in favor of the BiH team.

At the beginning of the second half, the Australians took the lead again with Elkaz’s shot for 32:31. However, the BiH players soon got back to the lead and by the end of the third quarter they scored five points more than the opponents (52:47).

The second half time was opened with Musa’s three pointer for the biggest advantage of the BiH team during the game (55:47), but the champions of Oceania got back into the game and made it to one point of difference in the 34th minute of the match, before taking the lead with 59:57.

Four minutes before the end of the match, Australia was leading with 64:61, but in only two minutes the BiH guys made a series of 9:1 and managed to turn the result to 70:65. However, the boys lost concentration then and Australia made the 10:1 series and entered the last minute of the game with five points of advantage (75:70).

By the end of the match, the BiH boys only managed to decrease the difference to the final 75:72.

Džanan Musa scored 34 points with a disastrous shot from the game (9/24) and from the line of free shots (12:21), and Sani Čampara scored 17 points.
