The Prime Minister of the Sarajevo Canton, Nihad Uk, spoke on the occasion of the fourth anniversary of the beginning of the Russian aggression against Ukraine and said that today we should remember all the lost lives and suffering caused by this war.
Among other things, the Uk stated that it confirms solidarity with Ukraine and its citizens.
“Bosnia and Herzegovina, and especially Sarajevo, understand from their own experience of destruction and siege the weight of war and its long-term consequences for people, communities and institutions. This experience additionally obliges us to consistently advocate for peace, stability and respect for the international order. Support for Ukraine is based on the principles of respect for sovereignty, territorial integrity and international law. In a time of serious security challenges in Europe, it is important to remain committed to dialogue, de-escalation and a just, sustainable peace solution. Opening of the resident Embassy of Ukraine in Sarajevo and the arrival of Ambassador Volodymyr Bachynski represent a significant step in improving bilateral relations and strengthening political and economic cooperation between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Ukraine,” said Prime Minister Uk.
On this day, added the Prime Minister, we pay respect to all victims of war and express our condolences to their families.
“The Canton of Sarajevo remains determined to, in cooperation with the institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina and international partners, provide support for efforts aimed at establishing peace, security and stability in Ukraine. Our solidarity today is above all a commitment to peace, international law and common European security,” said Prime Minister Uk.
