Uk: We will not agree to blackmailing from the Primary Education Union

The Prime Minister of the Sarajevo Canton, Nihad Uk, said, on the occasion of the warning strike of the Primary Education Union, which started today in schools in the Canton, that he will not agree to blackmail. Uk said that, although he does not understand their dissatisfaction, he intends to talk to the union representatives again.

According to earlier announcements, with a two-hour strike every day until the end of the school year, educators in elementary schools want to point out problems in their work and inadequate income for their work. According to Prime Minister Uk, the students and their parents will benefit the most from this move.

“For next Thursday, the Government of the Canton of Sarajevo is announcing a press conference where they will present in what ways and by what percentage salaries have been increased in all departments. We wish to inform the public about the results of which we are proud, as they are serious salary increases through an increase in the basic and new collective agreements. At the moment, we have a problem with the Primary Education Union, who are dissatisfied with their status, even though salaries in their sector have increased by 46 percent in the past three years,” the Uk Prime Minister told Television Sarajevo.

“A senior teacher has a salary of 1,950 BAM, plus a hot meal, a ticket for transportation and an allowance for past work. However, there is no need to bid on whether it is an excellent salary. I think that the salary is good, that it should continue to grow, as salaries should also grow in the public and private sectors”, concluded Uk.
