UN: Netanyahu’s so-called ‘Voluntary Migration’ plan is a Crime

The United Nations (UN) Special Rapporteur for Palestine, Francesca Albanese, pointed out that the so-called “voluntary migration” plan of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Israeli delegates, which aims to forcibly relocate civilians in Gaza, is a crime.

Albanese posted a post on her social media and responded to the statement of the Israeli representative Danny Danon, in which he previously stated: “I am happy that the Israeli public understands that the plan I initiated for the voluntary migration of the residents of the Gaza Strip is the most correct and humane solution to the problem.”

Stressing that the so-called “voluntary migration” plan is actually “forced displacement,” Albanese said: “Voluntary resettlement? No matter what the Israeli government calls it, forced displacement is a crime that can be prosecuted under the Rome Statute.”

She stressed that those who plan to displace Gazans under the name of “voluntary migration” will be investigated and prosecuted by the International Criminal Court (ICC) and other courts under universal jurisdiction.

Tagging ICC chief prosecutor Karim Khan in her post, Albanese said: “Justice delayed is justice denied.”

According to the Israeli newspaper “HaYom”, Netanyahu said in a meeting with Likud party representatives: “Our problem is the countries that are ready to accept refugees. We are working to solve that.”

At the meeting, Israeli representative Danon touched on the issue of the displacement of Palestinians in Gaza and said:

“The world is actually discussing this issue. Canadian Immigration Minister Marc Miller has spoken publicly about this issue. So has Nikki Haley (one of the 2024 Republican presidential candidates). We need to form a team within Israel to deal with those who want to leave Gaza and go to a third country.”

After Danon’s words, Netanyahu said: “We are working on it.”

In a statement, the Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned the statements of Netanyahu and Israeli delegates about the “voluntary migration” of Palestinians from Gaza to other countries.

“These admissions by Netanyahu require a bold international stance to immediately stop the attacks on Gaza and the crimes of genocide,” they pointed out.
