United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres has congratulated the Chairperson of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Željka Cvijanović, on the occasion of BiH Independence Day.

In his message, Guterres highlighted the importance of national holidays not only as moments of celebration, but also as an opportunity to reflect on shared global challenges, including the climate crisis, conflicts and growing inequalities.

“It is in this spirit that the Pact for the Future, a historic measure adopted by the United Nations General Assembly last year, was adopted. This document aims to strengthen multilateralism and promote peace, sustainable development and human rights for all,” Guterres said.

At the end of his congratulatory message, he expressed his best wishes to the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina and reiterated his commitment to the principles of international cooperation and solidarity.

“It is a pleasure to convey my best wishes to the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina on this special day,” Guterres concluded.
