University of Sarajevo Participated in 108 Tempus Projects

rektorat-UNSATempus is a program of the EU and one of the oldest and most successful programs of cooperation of EU helping reforms and modernization of higher education in partner countries. University of Sarajevo from 1996 until now has participated in the realization of 108 Tempus projects, said Faruk Mekić, Vice-rector for scientific research work at the University of Sarajevo.

“The goal of this program is to help educational systems of partner countries, to accept levels and trends of development of EU higher education on the basis of the Lisbon agenda and Bologna process”, explained Mekić.

He pointed out that the Program finances projects in which institutions of higher education of EU and partner countries non in the EU participates. He added that University of Sarajevo has participated in the realization of 108 Tempus projects since 1996, 4 times as project contractor and 16 times as academic coordinator.

“The regional partners in Tempus program are the Western Balkans, Eastern Balkans, countries of the Caucuses region, Central Asia, North Africa and Middle East. The period of implementation is until 2017”, stated Mekić.

B&H continues to participate in these projects, but with modified goals and with a new name as a component of new Erasmus + program.
