An unknown person or several of them broke the window on the Atik mosque in Bijeljina and the window on the auxiliary building, in Vuka Karadzica Street, the Police Administration of Bijeljina stated on Sunday evening.

The incident happened during the night, and the police were reported yesterday at 11:24 a.m.. An investigation was carried out, and the duty prosecutor was informed about everything.

The consequences of the attack on the mosque were noticed by Adi Osmanovic, the muezzin of the mosque, who told Preporod.info that the damage to the mosque was probably done last night, but that he and the members of the mosque only noticed it in the morning.

”We did not notice this morning at Sabah, probably due to the lighting above the windows, but around ten o’clock I noticed that one window at the mosque and the abdesthana, which is right next to the mosque, were broken. I called the police and we didn’t want to open the mosque until the police came. They made an official note, and at my insistence, since this is a national monument, an inspector later came with a team that conducted a thorough investigation,” Osmanovic explained.
