Unreleased Michael Jackson Tapes Discovered in Abandoned Storage Unit

Cassettes containing about 15 unreleased Michael Jackson songs were found in the furniture of an abandoned warehouse north of Los Angeles, the Hollywood Reporter reported, but added that the songs may never be released.

The cassettes, which feature one of Jackson’s songs with rapper LL Cool J, were found by former police officer Gregg Musgrove in a warehouse belonging to Bryan Loren, a music producer who worked with the King of Pop.

The recordings date, according to the labels on the cassettes, from 1989 to 1991, before the release of his album “Dangerous” (1991).

“I listened to those tapes and it gave me goosebumps, because no one had ever heard them before. To hear Michael Jackson talking and joking around, it was really, really wonderful,” Musgrove said.

The songs will likely remain unknown to the general public and will never be released, the Hollywood Reporter reported, adding that the foundation that manages Michael Jackson’s estate believes that owning such tapes does not mean that someone has the rights to them.

The foundation added that there are other tapes with these recordings, which are in safes.

Gregg Musgrove, for his part, hopes that his discovery, which he will present to auction houses, will bring him more than $ 1 million.

Michael Jackson sold an estimated 350 million records, including “Thriller”, one of the best-selling albums of all time, and won 13 Grammy Awards. He was 50 when he died on June 25, 2009.
