The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) reported that the Israeli army has, on average, killed one child every hour in Gaza since the attacks began on October 7th, 2023.

In a statement, UNRWA shared a report from the UN Children’s Fund (UNICEF) on the children killed in Gaza. According to UNICEF data, 14.500 children have been killed in the Gaza Strip since the start of the war.

The statement emphasized that there is no justification for killing children in Gaza.

“One child gets killed every hour. These are not numbers. These are lives cut short,” it stated.

It further highlighted that all surviving children have suffered physical injuries or psychological trauma and that children in Gaza are spending their time among ruins, deprived of education.

Israel launched a large-scale offensive against Hamas in the Gaza Strip in response to Hamas’s attack on Israel’s southern border on October 7th, 2023. That attack resulted in the deaths of approximately 1.200 people, with around 250 taken hostage.

The number of Palestinian casualties in ongoing Israeli attacks in the Gaza Strip has risen to 45.338, according to Gaza health authorities.
