Unusual Ad: Mediaeval Fortification in BiH for Sale

An unusual ad from Herzegovina appeared on websites where real estate is sold. Namely, an unknown seller is selling a medieval fortification in Stari Slano, ten minutes from Trebinje.

One of the ads says that a special property is for sale, a collapsed house with two towers inside a medieval stone castle in Stari Slano, located on the right bank of Trebisnjica River.

A piece of local history

“For sale is one of the two independent parts of the castle inside the ramparts. The area of ​​the plot is 500m2, and a collapsed stone house is located on it. There are two stone towers next to the house, one square, which is shared ownership 1/2 with the neighboring property, and one round, which is owned by the seller 1/1. The building’s orientation is south/west,” it says on the website hmp.ba.

The advertiser states that this is a fantastic opportunity, not only to become the owner of a unique property, but also a piece of local history.

The price is a real trifle

“The castle is located on the historically strategic Salt Road between the Ottoman Empire and the Republic of Dubrovnik, which once belonged to the famous Resulbegovic family from Trebinje. The property is being sold together with 14,640 m2 of land located on the other side of the river,” the ad says.

Attached to the ad are photos showing the towers, one of which is in good condition. It also says the price of 190,000 BAM.
