Today in Srebrenica, the Ambassador of the United States of America to BiH (USA) Michael Murphy pointed out that he had the sad honor and privilege to pay tribute to the victims of the genocide in Srebrenica on behalf of the USA.

“It is extremely important that we all accept the truth about what happened here and that we show honor to the victims at a time when denial of genocide is happening and when it is happening more often and in increasingly ugly forms. Today, the US stands with the victims and their families and we honor them today and forever,” said Ambassador Murphy.

He will later join the participants of the Peace March to support the survivors and families of the victims, their courage and help their efforts to bring peace.

“The message goes to all politicians in BiH and globally, and that is that we must all recognize and accept the truth about what happened in the area of Srebrenica, we must teach future generations about it, pay tribute to the victims and support those who are working to find the remains of the missing,” he ordered.

He added that the USA is proud to have co-sponsored the Resolution on the Srebrenica genocide and to have voted for it.

“I believe that it is our obligation for the international community to say clearly and loudly what happened here and to maintain the culture of remembrance,” concluded the ambassador, Fena writes.
