At the meeting with Srebrenica mothers on Monday, Ambassador Eric Nelson shared his sympathy with the families of the victims of the Srebrenica genocide and reaffirmed the U.S. commitment to seeking justice for the victims and peace and reconciliation for all.

“Deeply moved by the suffering the memorial at Potočari represents and honored to pay my respects to the victims of the Srebrenica genocide. This painful history will never, and must never, be forgotten,” Ambassador Nelson said.

Ambassador Nelson began his career in public service as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Liberia.  In 2013-2014, Eric was a fellow in Seminar XXI of the Center for International Studies of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from Rice University and a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Texas at Austin.  Eric is fluent in Italian, Spanish and German and is studying Bosnian.
