US Embassy on the Occasion of Celebration of the “Day of the RS”

A failure to comply with the decision of the Constitutional Court of BiH, which declared January 9 as the Day of the RS as unconstitutional, represents a clear violation of the rule of law, and those who are doing that should be held responsible, as stated from the Embassy of the United States in BiH.

From the Office for Public Relations of the US Embassy in BiH recalled this decision by the Constitutional Court, and noted that the decisions of that court are final and binding and must be respected by all means.

“We have nothing against the RS celebrating its holidays, but those celebrations need to be organised with respect of the rule of law and the rights of all constituent peoples, which is essential for all democratic processes,” as stated by the Embassy of the US.

They assessed that it is irresponsible from political leaders in BiH to polarise political dialogue in BiH instead of solving the problems that citizens of this country are facing with.

Regardless of the fact that the Constitutional Court of BiH declared January 9, the Day of the RS, as unconstitutional, a celebrating manifestation of this unconstitutional date was still organised in Banja Luka.

President of the RS Milorad Dodik handed over the recognition to the former President of Serbia Tomislav Nikolic, and members of the police, firefighters, hunters and other services participated in the parade through the city streets.
