Vice President Of The U.S.: We Are Optimistic That The War In Ukraine Can Be Ended

The United States (U.S.) is optimistic that it can help in ending the war between Russia and Ukraine, stated U.S. Vice President JD Vance on Friday, during a meeting with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, which was the second meeting in less than 24 hours.

Vance had spoken with Meloni a day earlier in Washington, after which both traveled to the Italian capital ahead of the Easter holidays.

During the press conference, he stated that he wanted to inform the Prime Minister about some negotiations between Russia and Ukraine, even though they had seen each other two days earlier because he thought he had interesting news.

“Since the negotiations are ongoing, I don’t want to prejudge them, but we feel optimism that we could help bring this war, this very brutal war, to an end,” he added.

A few hours earlier, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that U.S. President Donald Trump would abandon attempts to mediate a peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine within a few days unless there are clear signs that a deal is possible.
