This organization was founded in May 2016 in the Netherlands, with the aim to realize humanitarian projects around the world. It was launched by 25 year-old Sophie Hooymans with her friends, who voluntarily responded to these challenges. Reconstruction of the building in the center of Mostar is actually the first project of this organization.
“I learned about Center “Los Rosales” by accident from one girl from Mostar, who came on a visit to the Netherlands. She told me about the center and the difficulties that employees and residents of the center are facing with. I visited Mostar with my friend Nadia Saoud, who is also a member of “Just Sophie”. The project was very demanding and it was a challenge for us. We could not let young people to do a very responsible job in this center, and not have adequate kitchen and dining room. The basis of our organization are the children and the smile on their faces,” said Sophie Hooymans.
In the last week of October 2016, on the renovation of the new kitchen and dining room were involved eleven volunteers from the Netherlands, together with local craftsmen in various fields of civil engineering. New space for the kitchen and the dining room is very important for children and youth in the city.
The project in “Los Rosales” got the symbolic name “Apollo”, after the Greek god of sun. Activists from the organization “Just Sophie” said that the first episode was successfully completed, and that new challenges are before this organization. BiH has opened new friendships and experiences, so that new projects will be realized here again.
“I am satisfied with work and the final result, and the contribution of everyone who participated in the renovation of the room that once served as a workshop, and tomorrow will have even more useful purpose and will be a kitchen and dining room. The job is not finished yet. We will definitely come back in April next year in order to finish what we have started. We hope that the “Apollo” will make the sun shine every day over the “Los Rosales”, said Hooymans.
