Serbian and Montenegrin Presidents Aleksandar Vucic and Jakov Milatovic participated in a panel at the GLOBSEC Forum in Prague, where they engaged in a discussion that attracted attention. They talked about how, essentially, the same language is spoken in the Balkans, and Milatovic mentioned that he speaks the Serbian language.

While discussing the importance of a common economy in the Balkans, Milatovic remarked that, essentially, everyone speaks the same language, to which Vucic interjected, stating that it is the Serbian language.

Milatovic appeared somewhat puzzled by this remark, smiling slightly, and then Vucic pointed out that Milatovic speaks the Serbian language, to which the President of Montenegro agreed: “I do, I do.”

“It is, essentially, the same language linguistically. Many people call it by different names,” said Milatovic.

Vucic then added once more: “But it is the Serbian language.” Milatovic did not respond to this but continued his speech.
