“I fear there will be no more delays,” Vučić said in an interview with Blic TV, referring to the situation regarding the sanctions on NIS and the upcoming talks in New York.
The US imposed sanctions on NIS on January 10 due to Russia’s majority ownership in the company. They were originally scheduled to come into effect on February 28, 2025, but have since been postponed several times, and the current deadline expires on September 26.
Vučić further said that resolving the customs issue could open the door to large investments.
“If we resolve the customs issue, a Japanese company is ready to invest 500 million euros immediately,” said Vučić, who was on a multi-day visit to Japan this week.
Vučić also commented on the political situation in Serbia, stating that he expects the opposition to run in the next elections with five to ten different lists, due to, as he said, different political interests.
“The problem is that some people thought they could come to power through violence. They imagined that because they have a lot of money they could attack the state, with the support of various media platforms,” Vučić said.
He also stressed that false claims had been made in public about the alleged ban on gatherings and that he had personally initiated the security of the gatherings so that those gathered would be protected and there would be no complaints about possible attacks, AA writes.
