Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic confirmed that Serbian security services discovered the presence of three Russian citizens in the “Suncana Reka” camp, located between Loznica and Mali Zvornik.

He added that persons of Serbian nationality who were available to investigative authorities were also detained, and that the investigation is ongoing.

“We also detained Serbian citizens who were available to us. They gave us information about who was involved, and the investigation continues. They are still in custody,” Vucic said.

At a joint press conference with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, Vucic stated that the ethno-village “Suncana Reka” was used as a place for combat training of foreign nationals, and that this training, according to him, was intended to provoke unrest in Moldova.

“As I said, in this case, there were also three Russian citizens present in that camp. That is what I can confirm to you,” Vucic said, adding that he cannot claim that Russian services are behind the camp, but that the investigation is ongoing.

At the end of September, the Serbian Ministry of Internal Affairs announced that two persons were arrested near Loznica on grounds of suspicion of committing the criminal offense of organizing participation in a war or armed conflict in a foreign country.

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs statement, the arrested L. P. (1988) and S. S. (1978) are accused of organizing combat-tactical training for citizens of Moldova and Romania, which allegedly aimed to train them to provide more effective physical resistance to Moldovan police officers in the event of riots during the election day in that country, scheduled for September 28th of this year.

It is stated that L. P. organized and financed the training, which was conducted in a hospitality venue near Loznica, while S. S. is accused of assisting him in this.

The training, according to suspicions, took place between July 16th and September 12th, and between 150 and 170 citizens of Moldova and Romania participated.
