More than five years have passed since the War Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republika Srpska (RS), Tomislav Kovac(64), who was accused of war crimes, is still at large.

The indictment accused him of participating in the genocide committed against the civilians of Srebrenica in July 1995.

Numerous crimes

Specifically, he was charged with crimes committed from July 6th to November 1st, 1995, during a widespread and systematic attack directed against members of the Bosniak civilian population of the United Nations (UN) protected zones of Srebrenica and Zepa, during which the Army of RS (VRS) and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the RS carried out an operation of permanent and forced relocation of the Bosniak civilian population from the UN protected zones of Srebrenica and Zepa.

The indictment stated that Kovac was a participant in a joint criminal enterprise whose goal was the persecution of the entire Bosniak population from Srebrenica and Zepa, which resulted in the execution of thousands of prisoners, and then systematic efforts to conceal evidence of the crimes committed, including the transfer of mortal remains from mass tomb and their hiding.

Although he holds the citizenship of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) and Serbia, as politicki.ba writes, in these five years the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH has not deigned to explain what theydid to bring this accused war criminal to justice.

According to that portal, Kovac, who lives peacefully in Serbia, crosses the border on the Drina in order to attend the family celebrations of his fellow criminals, regularly visits his businessoperations and so on.

From time to time, he appears on one of the Serbian TV channels, and his statements and interpretations of the events during the aggression against BiH, as well as about the current political events in our country, are eagerly awaited and broadcast by some domestic TV stations.

His business

One of Kovac‘s businesses is the company “Aleksandrija” from Zvornik, which, apart from that city, also has production and sales in Istocno Sarajevo. That company markets products such as strudels, spreads, biscuits, salty sticks and the like, and citizens of BiH and Sandzak, especially Bosniaks, have been urged not to buy them on several occasions.

”We urge Bosniaks not to buy the products of this company, because by buying their products they are supporting the one under whose patronage at least 8,000 Bosniaks were killed,” Sandzakpress wrote.

According to Montenegrin media, Kovac kept “Aleksandrija” in Herceg-Novi for many years.
