What are the Conclusions from the Meeting of the Brdo-Brijuni Process?

13336338_1194004470650507_1656129136_nLeaders of the Brdo-Brijuni process confirmed that stability is the key to enormous potential of the Southeastern Europe and a guarantee of its consolidation with the European Union. They recognized that their responsibility is to create a stable political environment which is fit for economic development and overall progress of the Southeastern Europe.

At yesterday’s meeting, they said they will build mutual trust, understanding and reconciliation among them and other leaders of the Southeastern Europe by participating in direct and open dialogue, with the aim of reconciling the differences and promoting the truth, justice and the rule of law.

Moreover, it was stated in a joint statement that they will sincerely support each other and help each other in the process of EU integration and in the process of Euro-Atlantic integration for those countries who want to join NATO, that they will implement concrete activities on solving the remaining open issues with intensive dialogue and political communication on a high level, in accordance with international law, starting with the implementation of valid bilateral and multilateral contracts and agreements, including the Agreement on Succession Issues.

They also said they will unconditionally sustain from rhetoric or undertaking any actions which might contribute to the raising of tensions and creating of political instability in the Southeastern Europe.

They will look for comprehensive and coordinated solutions for current global threats to safety which have an impact on all countries, such as the migrant crisis and terrorism, and animate all actors in the region in order to decrease the influence of global security threats to stability and security of Southeastern Europe and its neighboring countries.

Leaders pointed out that they will work on improving educational systems and expanding opportunities for youth, so that they would prevent the brain drain and negative demographic trends, that they will strengthen the gender equality, especially in leader positions, and eliminate the violence against women and domestic violence in Southeastern Europe, respecting the work of non-governmental organizations, that they will improve economic competitiveness, reduce obstacles which prevent the free flow of people, goods and capital across the region, and jointly promote economic potential of the Southeastern Europe.

Furthermore, they said they will additionally improve mutual connections with joint projects in the fields of energy, infrastructure and transportation, also taking advantage of opportunities given by instruments of regional cooperation and all other instruments, as well as that they will continue introducing and implementing standards of the EU and promoting European values through ambitious political, judicial, social and economic reforms which build better societies and economies for all citizens.
