The Competition Council of Bosnia and Herzegovina approved the company GAS RES to take over the company Comsar Energy.

The decision was made at the session on May 30, but it was only now published, reports BiznisInfo.ba.

The council reached a conclusion rejecting the application for the concentration of the business entity GAS RES company for gas projects d.o.o. Banja Luka, due to the absence of the obligation to report the concentration.

On February 28, 2023, the Council of Competition received the Application for the concentration of GAS RES, which will result from the acquisition of a majority stake in the business entity Comsar Energy RS d.o.o. Banja Luka.

After collecting all the necessary documentation and carrying out the procedure, the Council of Competition determined that the participants of the concentration did not meet the condition of total annual income as well as the condition regarding the market share, and therefore they were not obliged to submit the concentration report to the Council of Competition.

With that, this acquisition was approved.

GAS RES is owned by the Government of Republika Srpska, while the Russian oligarch Rašid Serdarov is behind Comsar.

The media previously wrote about the fact that the Government of Republika Srpska plans to buy the failed projects of the Russian oligarch Serdarov and his company “Comsar”.

“Comsar” in the RS has several of its own companies and concessions in the electrical energy sector, which have never been used to do any serious business.

Serdarov once promised investments worth a billion marks, which were never realized.
