What is the Number of Persons in paid Employment in Bosnia?

In November 2019, the number of persons in paid employment in Bosnia-Herzegovina amounted to 831.126, out of which there were 356.192 women.

As compared to October 2019, the number of persons in paid employment increased by 0,1% and the number of employed women also increased by 0,3%.

The number of registered unemployed persons in November 2019 compared to October 2019 remained the same and the number of unemployed women also increased by 0,1%.

In November 2019, the number of registered unemployed in Bosnia amounted to 401.359.

If we take 2017 as a base year (2017 = 100) and compare November 2019 with the same month of 2018, it can be noticed that the number of unemployed decreased by 7,1% index points, or in absolute terms the number of people registered as unemployed decreased by 33.999.

In October 2019, the number of persons in paid employment in BiH amounted to 825.466, out of which there were 356.122 women, according to Bosnia-Herzegovina’s Agency for Statistics.

As compared to September 2019, the number of persons in paid employment increased by 0,4% and the number of employed women also increased by 0,7%.

The number of registered unemployed persons in October 2019 compared to September 2019 decreased by 0,5% and the number of unemployed women also decreased by 0,5%.

In October 2019, the number of registered unemployed in BiH amounted to 401.342.

If 2017 is taken as a base year (2017 = 100) and compare October 2019 with the same month of 2018, it can be noticed that the number of unemployed decreased by 7,6% index points, or in absolute terms the number of people registered as unemployed decreased by 36.441.

Unemployment, poor quality of public services, corruption, and business-unfriendly environment are just some of the many challenges Bosnia and Herzegovina is faced with. However, in recent years, a more responsible approach by some local authorities has led to a significant improvement in the quality of life of the population.
