Compared to the fourth quarter of 2025, the number of employees decreased by 5.4 percent, and the number of unemployed decreased by 4.0 percent.
Compared to the first quarter of 2025, the number of employees increased by 2.9 percent, and the number of unemployed decreased by 13.3 percent.
The total number of active population decreased by 5.2 percent compared to the fourth quarter of 2025. Compared to the first quarter of 2025, the number of the active population increased by 0.5 percent, according to data from the Federal Bureau of Statistics.
The employment rate in the first quarter of 2026 compared to the fourth quarter of 2025 decreased by 2.4 percentage points, while compared to the first quarter of 2025 it increased by 1.2 percentage points.
The unemployment rate in the first quarter of 2026 compared to the fourth quarter of 2025 increased by 0.1 percentage points, while compared to the first quarter of 2025 it decreased by 2.0 percentage points.
In the structure of the active population, 554,000 are men or 60.6 percent, and 359,000 are women or 39.4 percent.
In the structure of employed persons, 501,000 or 62.8 percent are men, while 297,000 or 37.2 percent are women.
Of the total number of unemployed persons, 45.6 percent are men, and 54.4 percent are women.
In the first quarter of 2026, the activity rate was 49.4 percent, the employment rate was 43.2 percent, and the unemployment rate was 12.6 percent.
Observed by gender, there are more active men compared to the number of active women. The activity rate of men was 61.4 percent, while the activity rate of women was 38.0 percent.
The same applies to the employment rate, which was 55.6 percent for men and 31.4 percent for women. The unemployment rate for men was 9.5 percent, and for women 17.4 percent.
