“According to the Agency for Statistics of BiH, there are 3,843,126 people living in BiH. If we take an average of 3 people living in an average household, we get the total number of 1.281.042 households in BiH, which regarding the analysis means that 80 % of households in BiH own a motor vehicle,” as stated in the analysis by BIHAMK.

There is a total of 1,021,120 registered vehicles in BiH. Of these, 623,249 were registered in the territory of the FBiH, 365,325 in the RS and 32,546 in Brcko District.

In the year of 2017, there were a total of 1,336,464 driver licenses active in BiH, of these 824,386 in the FBiH, 478,694 in the RS, and 33,384 in Brcko District.

If we analyse the aforementioned data on the total number of registered motor vehicles and the number of active driving licenses in BiH for the year of 2017, we can see that the number of active driving licenses is higher than the number of registered motor vehicles in both entities as well as in the District, for 315.344 or 30.9 %.

When it comes to percentages, there are 32.3 % more active driving licenses than registered motor vehicles in the FBiH, 31% more active driving licenses than registered motor vehicles in the RS, while there are 2.6% more active driving licenses in Brcko District.

There are 315,344 more active driving licenses than registered motor vehicles in BiH, i.e. one motor vehicle comes on 3 active driving licenses or, about 69 % of persons with an active driving license own their own motor vehicle.
