What is the Reason behind the Support for Becirovic by seven Parties?

The fight for a member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) from the ranks of Bosniaks has already been reduced to two names, Denis Becirovic as a candidate of seven political parties, with the announcement of the expansion of the bloc, and certainly Bakir Izetbegovic (SDA).

Two days ago, a bloc of as many as seven political options publicly expressed support for Denis Becirovic. These are SDP, Nasa stranka, Narod i pravda, SBB, NES, BH initiative of Fuad Kasumovic, and Za nove generacije (For new generations)Damir Marjanovic. It is very possible that the Party for BiH and the PDA will join this bloc.

First promises

After accepting the candidacy, Becirovic emphasized several times that this unification of a large number of parties is the way to a better future and awakening hope for a better and more just state. Such a gathering of a large number of parties in support of one candidate has not been recorded so far and inevitably represents a different approach. And that is completely allowed, justified, and expected in the political arena.

All the listed parties have said that they will go to the electionsindependently, each with its own list. However, in the fight for the state presidency, everyone will support one candidate. In the statements of the representatives of all the listed options, it was emphasized that with the victory of Becirovic, they want to contribute to a better and fairer society, a more orderly system, and the rule of law.

But, whoever is elected, the same problems follow. The fight for justice, the acceleration of the integration process, economic development, and everything that goes with it, everything that is now easily promised will simply not be resolved in the Presidency of BiH.

Seven, and probably even more parties that will eventually support Becirovic, undoubtedly have their own account and see themselves in a broad coalition government. There is also the greatest power and through the executive power in the cantons, the entity, and ultimately at the state level, those who promise a better tomorrow can implement it. So, technically, there is not much they can do in the presidency, but the main target is the executive branch, which in case of a good election result could be formed by many parties as payment for a joint appearance for the presidency.

Becirovic would be a serious candidate and one of the favorites if only the Trojka parties supported him in the race, but a wider circle of parties is also important because of the atmosphere of general unity. The wider circle of parties made it easier for the partners from the Trojka to overcome some of their differences and justify some, perhaps previously planned ambitions.

By gathering in symbolic support for Becirovic, all these parties reckon that the defeat of Bakir Izetbegovic would create big problems in the SDA, and bring discord and division, which political opponents would be ready to welcome.

They all reckon that the SDA has a scarce coalition capacity, which is largely true.

But, the starting point is that the race for the state presidency cannot be a direct fight for a fairer society and state. It can only be a symbolic path. Because regardless of who wins between the parties based in Sarajevo, HDZ is inevitably waiting for him at the federal level, and HDZ and SNSD or PDP/SDS are inevitably waiting for him at the state level and the same problems, Klix.ba writes.
