The construction of the first photovoltaic power plant in the area of Banovići was supposed to start this year, but according to the information we have – it seems that this will not be the case. After the Municipality fulfilled its part of the obligations, and at the end of last month, Elektroprivreda BiH took possession of the plot that the Municipality was obliged to secure, new problems appeared, which will probably slow down the realization of this important project.
For the construction of a photovoltaic power plant in the area of Banovići, the Municipality was, among other things, obliged to secure a plot of 10,000 square meters and to remove illegally built objects in that area, and other project activities are in the domain of Elektroprivreda BiH. However, the project is now completely blocked, which is conditioned by the Law on Public Procurement. It has become a practice when it comes to public companies.
“For six months now, we have had inappropriate complaints from bidders about the tender documentation and the delay in the process of public procurement of equipment for the construction of the solar photovoltaic power plant Banovići,” said Admir Andelija, general director of Elektroprivreda BiH.
He adds that these are mostly some anonymous companies, behind which there are strong lobbies. According to Andelia, it is a serious project of strategic importance and is important for Banović in many ways, and it will cost about 15 million marks.
“We are the first local community to sign the Letter of Intent – Memorandum on Accessing the Green Agenda in accordance with the Sofia Declaration together with the Ministry of Foreign Trade”, says the Mayor of Banovići Municipality, Bego Gutić.
Apart from Banovići, photovoltaic power plants should also be built in the area of Živinice and Tuzla, all in accordance with the energy transition process.
“Energy transition is mandatory and it is a long process. In our plans, we want to implement the energy transition within the deadline and according to the plan, as it is done by the European Union”, Andelija points out.
One of the important benefits of building photovoltaic power plants is employment.
“When we build those photovoltaic power plants, we will also employ miners, that is, retrain them,” announced Mustafa Music, Assistant General Director for Development of Elektroprivreda BiH.
In accordance with the strategic determinations, Elektroprivreda BiH intensified activities for investment in capacities that will be based on renewable energy sources in the past period.
