Eparchy of Zahumlje and Herzegovina sent a request to the Municipality of Nevesinje for assigning of land at the Church of Saint Georgije on Vjencac for the restoration of this medieval city, as confirmed by the mayor of this municipality Milenko Avdalovic.

Avdalovic noted that in the request was stated that they will first perform archaeological research, which will be followed by the preparation of project documentation for decoration around the church and the construction of tourist facilities.

They also contacted some investors that are willing to perform reconstruction of the old and the construction of new contents that are appropriate to the present time, and that would be very important for the cultural, tourist and economic development of the area of Nevesinje.

The construction of the church, whose endowment is brotherhood Sipovac, represents the first step in the construction of a complex of Vjencac, as a gift to Nevesinje and its people.

According to the preliminary design, besides the church, the complex will also include the fortress as a town-hotel with a small accommodation capacity, universal hall rooms with a terrace for the summer scenery, an outdoor cinema, walking trails inside the fortress, as well as other supporting facilities.

The Bishop of Zahumlje and Herzegovina Grigorije said that Nevesinje is like an amazing field, and Vjencac is one of the most beautiful places in all Herzegovina.
