Will BiH Politicians decide on Law on Excise Taxes?

The session of the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina, whose agenda includes the bill on amendments to the Law on Excise Taxes in Bosnia and Herzegovina, is scheduled for Monday, August 29.

This legal proposal, which will be before the delegates in the second reading, and which was submitted to the parliamentary procedure by MPs Sasa Magazinovic, Nermin Niksic, Nada Mladina and Zukan Helez, implies the abolition of excise taxes on all types of fuel.

The proponents stated in their explanation that by canceling the excise tax, the retail price of diesel fuel would be 35 pfennigs lower.

On the agenda, in the second reading, by abbreviated procedure, is the proposal of the law on amendments to the Law on Salaries and Remunerations in the Institutions of BiH, it was announced from the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH.

In the explanation of this legal proposal, it is stated that the salaries of employees in BiH institutions have not been increased for 13 years, and that in this way the coefficient for the positions of expert associate to expert advisor for civil servants, soldier to brigadier for professional military personnel, police officer to senior inspector for police officers, and the NSS to the senior officer of the VSS for employees.

In order to implement these changes, an additional 30,000,000 BAM should be set aside from the budget of the BiH institutions, according to the explanation.

In the second reading, the delegates should also consider the bill on amending the Law on Labor in BiH Institutions, the adoption of which would guarantee equal rights for all parents of children with severe developmental disabilities and harmonization with labor laws at entity levels.

Currently, the Law on Labor in the Institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina only entitles single parents of children with severe developmental disabilities to reduced working hours.

The agenda of the session also includes the reports of the Office for the Audit of BiH Institutions on the financial audit of 74 institutions of BiH for 2020 and 2021, as well as the report on the implementation of laws under the jurisdiction of the Central Election Commission in 2021.

The agenda also includes the approval of several international agreements and contracts.

The beginning of the session is scheduled for Monday, August 29, at 12:00 p.m.
