The Old Bridge in Mostar will be hosting the world’s best male and female high divers for the fourth time on September 8th , according to competition organizers, as it was reported by the Anadolu Agency (AA).
The Red Bull Cliff Diving World Championship, the most prestigious competition for the high diving, marks 10 years of existence this year, and five years since the Women’s Championship was introduced.
For this celebration season, seven locations were chosen that were truly “classics” for the championships, and among them is Mostar, after hosting three spectacular competitions at the Old Bridge in the past three years.
Jumpers from 12 countries will demonstrate their acrobatic skills in the USA, Spain, Portugal, Switzerland, Denmark, Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) and Italy. Men will perform at all seven, and women at five of those places.
The season begins at the Possum Kingdom lake in Texas (the USA), at the Hell’s Gate cliff. The host of the second competition is Bilbao (Spain), where only men will appear at La Salve Bridge. The third place of the cliff diving leads elite to the grand volcanic monoliths in the middle of the Atlantic, to the Sao Miguel island in the Portuguese Azores. Next is the Lake Uri in Sisikon (Switzerland), which hosted the 2009 and 2010 Championships. The fifth competition of this season is the 70th in the history of the Red Bull Cliff Diving World Championship, and it will be held in Denmark’s capital Copenhagen. Only men will perform there, for which a 27-meter high platform will be placed on the roof of the famous building of the Opera.
The penultimate place brings the best jumpers to BiH on September 8th, to the Old Bridge in Mostar , where the tradition of jumps lasts for centuries. And lastly, the final competition of the season will take place in Polignano a Mare, in the very south of Italy, where a new champion will be crowned.
