World Contraception Day is a worldwide campaign taking place on 26th September, since 2007, with a goal of improving awareness that contraception enable young people to make informed decisions on sexual and reproductive health.
The World Contraception Day, 26th September 2013 in B&H was marked by the Association Partnerships in Health with the support of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and government institutions, Public health institute of FB&H and the Public Health Institute, Republic of Srpska.
Partner organizations, Y-PEER, Democracy center “Nove Nade” Bihać and Association “Zdravo da ste” Banja Luka were also involved in the marking of the World contraception day.
Jointly undertaken activities were: Gynecology clinics “Open Doors”, informational and educational field activities such as info-stands in four cities, Sarajevo, Banja Luka, Bihać and Otoka and five educational workshops about healthy lifestyles related to sexual and reproductive health in Sarajevo, Banja Luka, Bihać and Cazin.
World Contraception Day was marked across the world with a warning from experts that an increasing number of people are entering into unprotected sexual intercourse. We believe that the activities of the Association Partnerships in Health, with the assistance of similar organizations, will raise awareness on the importance of using modern methods of contraception, so that the public wouldn’t face the consequences such as unwanted pregnancy, abortion or sexually transmitted infections.
