Tonight at 21:30 in the Sarajevo National Theatre, the Turkish television series RUMI will be screened out of competition and have its world premiere during the 29th Sarajevo Film Festival. The director is Can Ulkay and the producers are Ahmet Okur and Kerim Ayyildiz.

In Konya, the thirteenth-century capital of the Selcuk State, there lived a man, Mawlana Jalal al-Din Rumi, the great Islamic scholar, mystic, and poet, who preached, ‘Hearken to us for the story of humanity.’ This series tells the story of this exceptional person and the social and political events of the time; narrates his poetry, his aphorisms, and, of course, his immortal masterpiece, the Masnavi, which is still relevant today. Rumi’s search for truth and verity, two things still yearned for, the profound wisdom he reached through this sublime pursuit, and his journey to the inner layers of the self make the show an epic visual feast.
