The Association for the Improvement of Science and Technology (ANNT), which is aimed at promoting science and technology and strengthening the competitiveness of the scientific and research scene in BiH, was established by young BH researchers who are recording great success in Europe and the most prestigious European and world institutions.
Admir Greljo, Adnan Mehonic, Dzenan Lapandic, Suad Krilasevic, Selver Pepic and Nudzeim Selimovic were the best students in their generations at the University of Sarajevo and they won the Golden badge of UNSA, as well as numerous others prestigious international awards.
“The Association for the Improvement of Science and Technology represents an initiative of young people who have completed the first cycle of their studies at the UNSA at least. We are aware of what is good and what is not good at this university, and we are familiar with the quality control of one academic work since we are doing our master and doctoral studies in Europe and all over the world. We have to be able to generate ideas and be more open to other universities in order to have a good flow of ideas and define our vision,” said Adnan Mehonic, who became a member of the academic staff of the Department of Electronics and Electrical Engineering at University College London last year.
These young people are the best BH ambassadors in the world, and the fact that they are recording great success at some of the most prestigious European and world universities and institutions (CERN, MIT, University College London, ETH Zurich, Trinity College Dublin, etc.) is saying enough about the potential of BH scientific and research scene and the quality of the first cycle of studies at the University of Sarajevo. Investment in education is always a good investment, but the best students of the University of Sarajevo noted that before investing, you need to have a good vision.
Admir Greljo, a theoretical physicist at the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN), noted that BiH has great human resources.
“We have much better people than other European countries, but the state investment is lagging behind EU countries and that is the main problem. However, there are several other very important things like motivation of academic workers, personal ambition and recognition of what the excellence really is. If we have a good vision and if we recognize what is our goal, we can really overcome a lot,” said these young and prospective students of UNSA.
Six extraordinary young scientists from BiH presented their idea to the rector of UNSA, Rifat Skrijelj.
“This group of young people is just one part of those that the University of Sarajevo prepared at their faculties and laboratories for what they are today. They are achieving great results and they represent the best perspective for our country, if we recognize them and if they get actively involved in the technological development of BiH and strengthening of its institutions,” said Skrijelj.
