At the 9th European Physics Olympiad held in Sofia, the Bosnia and Herzegovina team achieved outstanding results in the competition with the best young physicists from around the world, Richmond Park Schools Tuzla announced.

Bosnia and Herzegovina was represented by five students, and three of them achieved significant successes: Muhamed Numanović, a 4th grade student at Richmond Park International High School in Tuzla – won a bronze medal, Vuk Janković, a 2nd grade student at the Jovan Dučić Gymnasium in Trebinje – won a bronze medal, and Nedim Begović, a 4th grade student at the United World College in Mostar – received a commendation.

The team also included Danilo Birčaković from the Petar Kočić Secondary School in Zvornik (4th grade) and Vladan Mićić from the Mihajlo Pupin Technical School in Bijeljina (3rd grade), who also represented our country with dignity.

Professional support and guidance during the competition were provided by Tarik Mujkić and Prof. Dr. Siniša Ignjatović.

40 countries participated in this year’s Olympiad, including countries outside Europe. Each country could register a maximum of five competitors. Medals and awards are awarded solely on the basis of points won, with extremely strict criteria: about 7–8 percent of the best participants receive gold medals, 20 percent silver, 20 percent bronze, and an additional 15 percent commendations.

The statement states that the achievements of BiH students at this prestigious international competition testify to their knowledge, effort and potential, the statement states.
