Zelensky: Putin has already started World War III

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said in an interview with the British public service BBC that Russian President Vladimir Putin has already started World War III.

Ahead of the fourth anniversary of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine on Tuesday, Zelensky said his view of the war differs from that of US President Donald Trump.

“We have different views on World War III. I believe that Putin has already started it. The question is how much territory he will be able to seize and how to stop it,” Zelensky said in the interview, which the BBC translated from Ukrainian into English and published late on Sunday.

Zelensky added that Russia wants to impose a different way of life on the world and change the lives that people have chosen for themselves.

“That is why I have long believed that Putin has already started this war, and we are preventing it from developing into a wide, full-scale World War III,” he said.

The Ukrainian leader also said that he is counting on reliable security guarantees from the United States for his country, which do not depend only on the will of the US president.

“As presidents, we have limited terms. Congress is needed. Presidents change, but institutions remain,” Zelensky said when asked if he trusts Trump, DPA reports.
