Zelensky says Kyiv will not Compromise over Territorial Issues

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Saturday that Kiev would not compromise on territorial issues as it negotiates peace with Moscow.

“The answer to the Ukrainian territorial issue is already in the Constitution of Ukraine. No one will deviate from this – and no one will be able to. Ukrainians will not give their land to the occupier,” he told Telegram.

His statement came hours after US President Donald Trump announced a meeting with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin on August 15 in Alaska to discuss resolving the war in Ukraine.

Meanwhile, if Trump’s conditions for the meeting are met, Zelensky will also be present, while the reports have not yet been officially confirmed.

Meanwhile, Zelensky warned against making any decisions regarding Ukraine without its representatives.

“Ukraine is ready for real decisions that can bring peace. All decisions that are against us, all decisions that are without Ukraine, are also decisions against peace,” he stressed.

Zelensky described the decisions made without Ukraine as “stillborn” and “unimplementable,” arguing that they would achieve nothing.

“I need real and genuine peace. Peace that people will respect. We are ready to work with President Trump, together with all our partners, for real and, most importantly, lasting peace,” he said.
