“Economic growth of 2.2 percent was achieved last year, although the estimations were around 1.4 percent. Every quarter was positive and larger in comparison with the same period in 2014, but also larger in comparison with the previous quarter in the same year,” Cvijanović said.

Cvijanović stated that the number of employed persons increased and the number of unemployed decreased, volumes of industrial production and export increased, and average salary also increased slightly.

According to Cvijanović, the coverage of import with export amounted to 58.5 percent, which is the largest coverage since 2005, and GDP greater than nine billion BAM was generated for the first time.

Cvijanović highlighted that positive trends continued in the first quarter of this year as well.

“In the period January-February, the export increased by 6.2 percent and import decreased by 4.7 percent in comparison with the same period in 2015. Growth of export was significantly contributed to by the export of furniture and footwear, apples and other fruits, and growth of export is expected in the coming period as well because of the planned increase in the production of electrical energy,” Cvijanović said.
