1.700 Millionaires left Israel amid the War in Gaza

At least 1.700 millionaires left Israel last year due to worsening economic conditions caused by the war in Gaza, Israeli media reported yesterday.

Figures published by the firms “Henley & Partners”, a global leader in immigration services based in the United Kingdom (UK), and “New World Wealth”, a South African data collection firm, show that in Tel Aviv and Herzliya in central Israel in 2024 there were 22.600 millionaires, whereas in 2023 that number was 24.300.

“That means no less than 1.700 millionaires left Israel during the past year,” stated the firm “Henley & Partners.”

Although the report did not specify the reasons for their departure, previous reports from Israeli media suggested that many Israelis left the country after the Israeli war in Gaza and its consequences on the economy and security in Israel.

Last year, the global credit rating agency Fitch downgraded Israel’s credit rating from A+ to A.

More than 50.800 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza in the brutal Israeli offensive since October 2023, most of whom are women and children.

The International Criminal Court (ICC) issued arrest warrants in November last year for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former defense minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.

Israel is also facing a genocide lawsuit before the International Court of Justice (ICJ).
