Today, at around 2 pm, a plane will arrive at Sarajevo International Airport with the first part of the donation of 10,000 vaccines from the Republic of Serbia to the Sarajevo Canton.

The Minister of Health of the Republic of Serbia, Zlatibor Loncar, will also arrive. The donation will be taken over on behalf of the Sarajevo Canton by the Prime Minister of Canton Sarajevo Edin Forto and the Minister of Health of CS, prof.dr. Haris Vranic.

The Government of Sarajevo Canton has signed an agreement with the Government of the Republic of Serbia on the donation of vaccines. It is about 20,000 doses, manufactured by AstraZeneca.

“We are in constant search for vaccines for the citizens of our Canton. So, among other things, we asked to buy vaccines from several countries in the region.

“After talks with the Government of the Republic of Serbia, they decided that at this moment they are not able to sell us a larger number of doses, but they decided to donate them to us, 10,000 very quickly and 10,000 for revaccination, shortly after that,” said the Prime Minister.

He added that the CS Government is currently discussing the possibility of implementing a program that will, on the one hand, thank the neighbors for their help, and at the same time support the hotel sector and tourism in the Sarajevo Canton.
