108.000 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine should be delivered to Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) by the end of May, according to a distribution plan announced by the international COVAX mechanism.
The international mechanism COVAX has published a plan for the distribution of coronavirus vaccines for the period from February to the end of May 2021. This is the first round of deliveries which involves 237 million doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine.
According to this plan, by the end of May, 108.000 doses of this vaccine should be delivered to BiH. The plan states that our country should also receive 23.400 doses of the Pfizer vaccine.
Goran Cerkez, a member of the Crisis Staff of the Federal Ministry of Health, told that the Federation of BiH (FBiH) is ready for vaccination:
“As far as FBiH is concerned, we have everything prepared and we can start with immunization immediately. We accomplished all requests which we received on time. The vaccine for FBiH has been paid off completely. We are not talking about any donations or assistance to BiH. We are talking about the delivery of what was paid for, because at this moment we have fulfilled the conditions, which was confirmed by the World Health Organization (WHO) in its letter, which means that FBiH can start using vaccines, ” Cerkez stated.
As stated in the report, these are previously agreed quantities that will not be part of this first round of delivery, and they are listed in the table for general clarity.
COVAX emphasized that the table will be finalized by the end of this week and that deliveries can be expected in the period from February to March and from April to May, BHRT writes.
