On the proposal of the Food Safety Agency of B&H, in the previous period 117 food regulations were adopted and published, which takes EU standards based on the latest scientific knowledge.
On occasion of 15 March, which is World Consumer Day, this Agency would recall that the protection of the health and interests of consumers is the primary goal of all its activities.
A press release states that one of the most important activities of the Agency is to establish a legal basis for the protection of health and consumer interests in cooperation with the relevant B&H institutions, entities and Brčko District B&H.
The Agency, as a contact point in international rapid alert systems for food and food for animals, in cooperation with the relevant inspection authorities in B&H continuously and promptly take measures to eliminate or minimize risk derived from food in the case of information received on defective food on the B&H market.
It further states that the Agency, also in cooperation with the relevant B&H institutions, entities and Brčko District, regularly assesses the risk and makes appropriate recommendations in order to protect the health of consumers.
From these agencies it is emphasized that companies dealing with food, pursuant to the provisions of the Food Act, are primarily responsible for ensuring food safety, as well as for consumers in order to protect the health and recommendations for the preparation, handling and storage of food, adhering to the recommendations of relevant institutions and paying attention to the content of the declaration and organoleptic properties of the product.
