The agreement was signed today in Sarajevo.

After signing, Bevanda said that the conditions for acceleration of  the construction of the strategically important section of the Svilaj-Odžak highway 10.7 km long is made.

“This section of highwayis very important not only for improving road infrastructure but also for regional cooperation and better communication with the EU,” Bevanda said.

Moreover, minister pointed out that the total project also includes the construction of the border crossing and the cross-border bridge at Sava in Svilaj, whose construction will be financed by BiH and Croatia in the ratio of 50:50.

Rivelini stated that this grant is a signal of support from the EIB and the EU to Bosnia and Herzegovina. He also announced another 200m euros of support for BiH road infrastructure in 2017.

“Since 2001, the EIB has invested about two billion euros in the sector of infrastructure, energy, environment and health. Signing of the agreement represents a continuation of support to the BiH transport sector,” Rivelini said.

The signing of the agreement was also attended by the Head of the European Union Delegation to BiH and EU Special Representative in BiH, Ambassador Lars-Gunnar Wigemark, who pointed out that it was a grant rather than a loan.
