mediaThe Press Council in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) in cooperation with the Youth News Association, organized a public campaign on the World Press Freedom Day. The event was organized on May 3rd under the name”Citizens and Journalists Together in the Fight for the Truth”.

“Campaign is held in Sarajevo and in eight other cities throughout BiH with aim to inform the public about the state of freedom of the media in BiH, about the more frequent attacks on journalists, and most importantly – to inform citizens of their right to complain to the Council for inaccurate and unprofessional reporting of press and online media,” said Maida Bahto Kestendzic, project coordinator for appeals of the Press Council in BiH.

Moreover, the campaign includes a survey on the state of media freedom in BiH.

According to the latest Report of the Reporter without Borders, BiH is partial free country when it comes to the media freedom.

“Free media are an indispensable prerequisite for the development of a democratic society and it is very important to protect the freedom of the media,” Bahto Kestendzic concluded.
