Analysis: An Increase of 20 Percent in Tourist Arrivals to BiH

In July 2018 tourists realized 172,102 tourist arrivals in Bosnia and Hercegovina which represent the increase by 19.8% as compared to June 2018 and increase by 6.9% as compared to July 2017. Tourists realized 389.572 tourist nights which represent the increase by 36.6% as compared to June 2018 and increase by 11.2% as compared to July 2017. Domestic tourists share of a total number of overnight stays was 23.5% and foreign tourists share was 76.5%.

The number of domestic tourist nights increased by 8.8% as compared to June 2018 and increased by 22.1% as compared to July 2017. Foreign tourist nights increased by 48.2% as compared to June 2018 and increased by 8.2% as compared to July 2017.

Concerning the structure of foreign tourist nights in July 2018, the most of them (51.6%) were realised by tourists from: United Arab Emirates (11.0%), Saudi Arabia and Poland (8.6%), Turkey (7.5%), Serbia (4.3%), Croatia and Germany (4.0%) and Slovenia (3.6%). Tourists from other countries realized 48.4% of tourist nights.

Regarding the average detention of foreign tourist stays in our country on the first place comes France with average stay by 4.1 nights, Ireland with 3.9 nights, Qatar with 3.7 nights, Egypt with 3.6 nights, Kuwait with 3.4 nights and the United Arab Emirates with (3.2.0%) nights.

Available rooms, apartments and camping sites for tourists in Bosnia and Herzegovina in July 2018 amounted to 20,421, which is a 5.3% increase compared to July 2017. The number of available beds was 43.503 beds, which is an increase by 4.8%, compared to the same month of 2017.

In July 2018, in the activity – Hotels and similar accommodation, number of rooms and apartments available to tourists amounted to 17,448, which is an increase of 5.3% compared to July 2017., and number of available beds amounted to 35.294 which is an increase of 5.0%, compared to the same month of the previous year.

A net occupancy rate of permanent beds was 31.2%.

According to the type of accommodation facility, the highest number of nights was recorded in Hotels and similar accommodation with a share of 90.2%.
