Sarajevo Canton Tourist Board President Nermin Muzur estimated that August will be a record month in terms of number of guests and that it will exceed last year’s figure when some 75,000 tourists visited Sarajevo.

Muzur highlighted that around 90 percent of the accommodation capacity is already filled in the municipalities of Center and Stari Grad

He explained that tourists mostly visit Sarajevo in August, adding he is certain that in the next 15 days, until the beginning of the Sarajevo Film Festival (SFF), all accommodation capacities will be completely filled.

“This year SFF has more than 30 percent more participants, and the great interest of tourists is also in the planetary known world star DJ Solomun,” said Muzur.

He also explained that the qualifying tournament of the Women’s Champions League will be held in Sarajevo as well, which is a very good promotion of tourism.

Muzur stressed that before the start of each summer season, they talk to embassy representatives about the experiences of their tourists in Sarajevo in order to act preventively.

It was stated that they mainly encounter with pickpocketing, minor inconveniences in public transport or beggars, but without major problems.
