Independent Trade Union of Primary Education and Upbringing of Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (SOOiO FBiH) – Cantonal Board of Sarajevo Canton, given that it is already certain that classes in the school year 2020/21. will not be postponed and will start on September 1, this year, will ask the Ministry of Education, Science and Youth of Sarajevo Canton and other competent institutions to ensure testing before COVID-19 of all workers in primary schools in the Canton Sarajevo in order to act preventively and protect students and workers in the industry primary education.

“Although the imperative of this union is the protection of workers’ health, but also other rights related to the labor-legal and economic-social position of workers, the challenge of today is the protection of our students,” it was announced.

They believe that the relevant Ministry and the Government of the Sarajevo Canton will find a way to test all workers in schools in the Sarajevo Canton in the next few days, before the start of the new school year.

Yesterday, the teacher employed at the Umihana Cuvidina Elementary School in Sarajevo was infected with the coronavirus, Klix.ba has learned. It is an asymptomatic case without any health problems and since she was in contact with a certain number of other teaching staff in the previous period, the recommended measures are followed.

Also, none of the teaching staff has been in contact with the students so the parents have no reason to fear.

It will be known tomorrow the latest how many people will be in self-isolation, and the beginning of classes in that school will probably be adjusted to the online system, which will determine the number of teachers who have to be isolated.

The Minister of Education of the Sarajevo Canton, Anis Krivic, was informed about the case of the infection, as was the Cantonal Education Trade Union. Currently, all measures are being implemented and the recommendations are being followed.
